Terms of service

Last updated: 27 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the services provided by Eleven Mile Lane ("we", "us", "our") to you, our client ("you", "your"). Eleven Mile Lane is a UK-based studio specialising in Shopify design and development, custom code, logo and brand creation, and search engine optimisation (SEO). By requesting a quote, paying a booking fee, or otherwise engaging us, you agree to these Terms.

1. Our services

We offer:

  • New Shopify stores built from the ground up;
  • Redesigns, rebrands and reworks of existing Shopify stores;
  • Custom code and bespoke functionality within Shopify;
  • Logo and brand creation;
  • Search engine optimisation (SEO), including setup and configuration of Google Search Console and on-page improvements.

We work exclusively on the Shopify platform. We do not provide website hosting (Shopify hosts your store as part of your Shopify subscription) and we do not build or maintain sites on other platforms.

2. How a project works

  1. Enquiry & brief. You tell us what you need.
  2. Proposal & quote. We provide a written outline of the work, the price, and an estimated timeline.
  3. Booking fee. To secure your project slot and begin work, we require a booking fee of 50% of the agreed price (see Section 3).
  4. Build. We carry out the work as described in the agreed brief.
  5. Review. You review the work and we complete the agreed revisions.
  6. Balance & launch. The remaining balance is due on completion, before the finished work is published, handed over, or transferred to you.

3. Booking fee, balance and payment

  • A 50% booking fee is payable up front to secure your slot and begin work. This booking fee reserves our time and covers the initial stages of your project.
  • The remaining 50% balance is due on completion of the agreed work, and before we publish, hand over or transfer the finished work to you.
  • Balances are invoiced and payable promptly. We may withhold delivery, publishing, or transfer of work until full payment has been received.
  • Aftercare and small changes are charged at £35 per hour, with a minimum charge of half an hour (£17.50). Aftercare and hourly work are payable in advance.
  • All prices are in GBP.

4. Quotes and scope

Quotes are based on the brief you provide. If the scope of work changes, or you request additional features or pages beyond the agreed brief, this may affect the price and timeline. Any additional work outside the agreed scope will be quoted separately or charged at our hourly rate, and agreed with you before we proceed.

5. Your responsibilities

To keep your project on track, you agree to:

  • Provide the content we need (text, images, logos, product information and any required account access) in a timely manner;
  • Give feedback and approvals within a reasonable time;
  • Ensure that any content, images or materials you supply are yours to use, and do not infringe anyone else's rights.

Delays in providing content, feedback or payment may delay your project and its estimated completion date.

6. Running costs and third-party services

Your store relies on third-party services that are billed separately, directly to you by the relevant provider, and are not included in our fees. These typically include:

  • Your Shopify subscription (paid monthly or annually to Shopify);
  • Payment processing fees charged on each transaction (for example Shopify Payments or another gateway);
  • Any apps, domains, premium themes or third-party assets your store uses.

We will always make these ongoing costs clear before we begin, but responsibility for maintaining and paying for them rests with you.

7. Revisions

Each project includes a reasonable number of revision rounds, agreed as part of your quote, to refine the work. Additional revisions beyond what was agreed are charged at our hourly rate.

8. Intellectual property

On receipt of full payment, ownership of the final deliverables produced specifically for you (such as your store design and any custom code or logo we create for you) transfers to you. Until full payment is received, all work remains our property.

Some elements may rely on third-party or licensed assets (for example fonts, stock imagery, apps or theme frameworks), which remain subject to their own licences.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, we may showcase completed work in our portfolio and marketing. If you would prefer we did not, just let us know.

9. Your store content and compliance

You are responsible for the content, products and legal compliance of your own store once it is live, including your own privacy policy, terms, product descriptions, pricing and any regulatory requirements that apply to your business.

10. Warranties and liability

We provide our services with reasonable skill and care. However, we do not warrant that the services or any website will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that they will achieve any particular commercial result, ranking or level of sales.

We are not responsible for issues, downtime, changes or costs arising from third-party platforms and services (including Shopify, apps, payment providers and domain registrars).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with a project shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for that project.

11. Cancellation and refunds

Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

12. Confidentiality

We treat information you share with us about your business in confidence and use it only to carry out your project, except where disclosure is required by law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time you engage us.
